Remember when I said Scholastic sent me two books? Well this is the second entertaining book they gave to me, called Vote for Effie By Laura Wood. It’s a really interesting and engaging book. I think you would truly enjoy reading. I think the best thing about the story is it isn’t what you would expect to happen.
If you haven’t read the book here are some reasons why you should read it:
- It has an amazing story.
- It’s main character is really persistent (very well built characters)
- It really makes your opinion change on the story as you go on
- It is just wonderful! 🙂
What I enjoyed about the setting is that it is a place that I go to for five days a week. Can you guess where I am talking about? You guessed it… SCHOOL! I like that it is in a school because like me and most of you we go to school. So doesn’t the setting being somewhere (most of) you go to five days a week help you to imagine that you are one of the characters in the story?
I read a lot of books in the school genre, but what I loved about Laura Woods version of this genre is that she made it so interesting that it felt real. I thought I was one of the children (Ruby Frost of course, read the book to find out who she is) in the school who saw all of the drama.
As most of you can probably tell my favourite character is Ruby Frost. She is my favourite character because she is very loud (this makes the story even funnier). The reason I say that the main character, Effie, isn’t my favourite is because she was a bit very hot tempered and bossy, but her character was also very well structured.
If you are interested in campaigns and being a leader than this is the book for you. If you are interested in becoming Prime Minister then you and Effie have something in common and are bound to be friends.
I would definitely recommend this book to ages 7-10 as any older might find it too young for them and any younger won’t really understand the book. I would one hundred and fifty percent recommend this book to ages 7-10 because it is extremely humourful.
Thank you for reading my blog! 🙂
